The African Journal of Information Systems

The special issue seeks to present a distinctive African perspective on the theory and practice of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for audiences with an interest in information and communication technologies (ICTs) in Africa. The special issue aims at disseminating research output on the development, adoption, localization and the usage of FOSS within an African context.

The special issue seeks to explore and present a distinctive African perspective on how existing social theories and information security models can assist in the identification, causation, and treatment of cyber crime. This issue aims at disseminating research output on the extent to which socio-economic and political factors, such as but not limited to poverty, unemployment, and corrupt practices in government, promote cyber crime in Africa. We also seek articles on possible best practices and policies that can be employed to curb cyber crime on the continent.

The special issue seeks to explore the experiences of African SME’s in conceptualizing, developing, adopting, and using e-business/e-commerce innovation in newly developed or existing firms in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).  The issue aims at disseminating research output on e-business/e-commerce initiatives from African SMEs perspectives to both academic and business communities.

 

The African Journal of Information Systems (AJIS) provides a high caliber scholarly research journal in information and communication technology (ICT). The focus of AJIS is to acquaint a broad audience of readers in the variety of intellectual traditions included under the rubric of ICT in Africa. Therefore, the journal aims at disseminating research on the transfer, diffusion, and adoption of ICT within the context of Africa; the innovation and development of ICT solutions for and within this context; impacts of ICT on society and of society on ICT; and other relevant normative, empirical, and theoretical concerns of ICT development, implementation, strategy, management and policy that are distinctive to Africa and associated developing economies.

This journal is managed by a team of researchers and practitioner interested in promoting ICT research and practice in Africa.
